MONTPELIER — Vermonters have a new path to high-paying, high-demand careers in accounting and bookkeeping through the Community College of Vermont’s Certified Public Accountant Apprenticeship Program.
The Earn While You Learn program combines on-the-job training with four college-level courses. Additionally, apprentices earn four certifications from the National Association of Certified Public Accountants and earn their Certified Public Accountant license. In addition to accounting, the program is aligned with payroll, accounting, and auditing positions, ensuring the development of talent in the areas of accounting and finance.
“With a median salary of over $44,000 and more than 600 openings expected in Vermont each year, there are huge opportunities for accounting, accounting and auditing clerks in Vermont,” a said Michael Keogh, Director of Commercial Engagement at CCV. “We developed the Certified Public Accountant Apprenticeship in partnership with the Vermont Department of Labor to help Vermont workers seeking new career opportunities in high-growth occupations, and also to help Vermont businesses build new paths to employment and increase their talent pool. ”
In addition to the certified public accountant apprenticeship, CCV offers registered apprenticeships in medical assisting, manufacturing production technician, and pharmacy technician. VCC apprenticeship programs are developed in partnership with the Vermont Department of Labor.
The Earn While You Learn program is also available to out-of-state students, as long as they work in Vermont.
